Jewelry Care
Pearl Jewelry Care:
Pearls are usually found in mollusks such as oysters and mussels, it its the only gemstones in the world that come from a living creature. Nacre is a substance that develops overtime and gives the pearl their luster looks, thus caring for your pearl is imperative.
1. Avoid getting your pearl in contact with sweat and cosmetic products such as perfume, hair spray, oil etc. Pearls can absorb oils and acids easily, which over time can lead to damaged and discoloration.
2. Pearls need moisture in order to maintain their luster and structural integrity. You can wash pearls with a luke warm water with perfume-free soap and rinse with water to remove soap residue, pat dry it using a soft cloth and wipe them gently to avoid scratching it.
3. Remove your pearl jewelry when working out, swimming, or sleeping.
4. Store pearl into a jewelry box in a a cool dry place
to avoid from getting scratched.
How to tell REAL vs. FAKE pearl
1.Real pearl feels cold in your hands when touch at first and slowly stating to warm up when held in your hand.
2. Real pearls are heavy in weight compare to fake ones.
3. The surface of real pearls is made out of nacre, which has a gritty feel to it. Performed Pearl test by rubbing pearls gently against each other. Real pearls will have a little friction when rubbed together and will create some resistance when rub together. It will sometimes leave some powder residue behind, from the outer nacre layers naturally produce by pearls. However, pressing/ rubbing too hard can slightly scratch the surface of the pearl, so don't overdo it.
3. Fake pearls will have a uniform shine and are almost too perfect , while real pearls will have some slight variations in their size and slight imperfections so that the luster isn't exactly the same on all parts of the pearl, as noted real pearls are rarely perfect. Usually, they'll have small blemishes or irregularities in their shape
